The radio programs "Cavalcade of America" and "March
of Time" gave Patricia Peardon her start as a
professional actress while she was still a student at
Oakley Hall in Allendale, New Jersey, her hometown.
After graduating from high school at the age of fifteen,
she went on to become the youngest student to be
admitted to Columbia University Extension Courses. With
her academic chores behind her, she was engaged for
her first play, the Theatre Guild's "Jane Eyre" which
starred Katharine Hepburn and in which she tourned
throughout the country as Adele, Rochester's ward. This
was the beginning of a very happy and active career
which led to Patricia's being cast in the title role of "Junior
Miss," one of Broadway's biggest comedy hits. As
teenager Judy Graves she remained with the play for
four years on Broadway and a transcontinental tour and
later played it in Europe with the first USO company of a
play to be sent overseas during the war. The interim
found her one of radio's and television's most in-demand
ingenues, notably the featured Katherine Frisbee on the
TV-film series "Johnny Jupiter." She has also played most
of the important summer stock theatres and was film star
Steve Cochran's leading lady in a strawhat production of
"Heaven Can Wait." Painting is her favorite hobby; in
fact, she once won first prize in an exhibition at the
Illustrator's Club for the benefit of the American Theatre
Wing which included works by such recognized
artist-actors as Vincent Price, Tillie Losch and Paula
Lawrence. Patricia is married to theatrical manager
Richard Horner who has been associated with the offices
of George Abbott and Katharine Cornell.
