This website is intended to be an archive and documentation of the life and career of actor/director Robert Montgomery, whose contribution to the world of film is often forgotten.

Robert Montgomery was typecast in the early 1930's as a "playboy" type and received comparatively few roles that were worthy of his talent. In 1937 he fought hard to get the role of "Danny", the irresistably charming companion with a deep, dark secret in "
Night Must Fall". A thriller set in the English countryside, this film cast Montgomery against type and finally showed off his real acting ability.

In retrospect Montgomery can be seen as a versatile actor, equally adept at playing an English gentleman, a prison inmate, a boxer, the gritty, world-wise detective Phillip Marlowe
or even a playboy type.

He is also distinguished as the father of Elizabeth Montgomery, noted television actress and star of the series "
Bewitched".
